Multi-employer Worksite Safety Issues (3)

Case Description/Summary:   

A truck driver was part of a two-man crew delivering a mandrel and packers on a gooseneck trailer to a natural gas well pad. A forklift operated by one of the well operators was used in the discharge process.  The plaintiff was injured when a large piece of pipe was caused to roll off the gooseneck trailer, crushing his hand between one of the forklift forks and the pipe.

Expert Analysis/Summary:

A material handling safety analysis included a review of all relevant depositions and other discovery documents, reports, training records, photographs, etc. In addition, a review of relevant research materials, codes, and standards related to acceptable workplace safety practices and standards was performed. It was determined that the employer of the forklift operator failed to follow OSHA and other National Consensus Standards at the time of the accident event.

Results:   Case Settled.
